The International Biennale of Glass, established in 2017, is quickly affirming itself as one of the most significant stages for contemporary art and as a global platform for dialogue, exchange and collaboration.
The current publication is a natural continuation of the International Biennale of Glass, collecting those works and ideas that shaped its face in 2025. In it, the reader will be introduced to nearly 200 works that, through a variety of techniques, materials and ideas, manage to reflect our time in a unique and personal way.
The catalogue traces the historical path of art glass – from its rethinking in the 20th century to its establishment as an independent artistic language, as well as its contemporary reflections in the presented works. The reader will meet leading figures and movements: the Czech innovator in optical glass Václav Cigler, the Italian master Lucio Bubacco, who includes mythological symbolism, the Dutch artist and architect Han de Kluijver with his spatial-analytical approach, etc. Innovative collaborations with leading academies and institutions are also presented, opening new horizons in the field of experiment and interdisciplinary exchange.
This publication is not only a catalogue of contemporary art glass, but also a testament to its power to connect generations and cultures, to unite tradition and experiment, and to inspire new horizons in the world scene of the visual arts.
